The Davenport Coast in February, What the Ocean Left Behind
A single long-exposure frame of old concrete pier supports standing in the winter Pacific near Davenport.

The Supports in the Water
Below the bluffs near Davenport, California, old concrete structures remain in the Pacific. They appear to have once supported a pier. The deck is gone, leaving the columns to mark the passage of time along this stretch of coast.

One Winter Frame
Only one photograph remains from this stop. During the long exposure, breaking waves became a soft current while the concrete stayed fixed. Birds resting above the water and graffiti across the supports show how an abandoned structure has become part of the coastal landscape.
This place does not need a long sequence. One frame is enough to hold the contrast: moving water, immovable concrete, and the slow work of the ocean between them.
Before Visiting
The Davenport coastline is shaped by steep bluffs, tides, and ongoing erosion. Access to the water can become dangerous as conditions change, so visitors should check current local guidance and tide information before approaching the shore.
